astonishing performances and devastating defeats. these are the stories of the olympic athletes of which i watch in amazement. i'm most captivated by the stories behind the games. the world sits in awe of such outstanding races and we often overlook the hardwork and determination it required to get them there. in local news, two stories shocks the city...a shooting at a church and a shooting at a school, both find the victims who are no longer with us. we harbor such anger and hate toward these shooters, as if our sin is not as grave. yet, they each have a story. not to excuse the action, but again we overlook the realities. and we move on with our lives despite these tragedies. briefly we live in fear, there are lock downs across the county. moments later we continue on with our lives as if nothing had ever happened. we have become desensitized to these horrible situations. what happened? how have we strayed so far from our mark?
